It started off all the way back in 1884 in Switzerland when Albert Handschin and Carl Ronus founded a knitwear factory. Hanro as we know it still carries the same eager eye for detail and the same passion for use of premium fabrications. Although, these have of course changed a bit since then. The business held its way through the years making practical undergarments. From supplying the military with underwear during the war, to ditching the corsets and becoming the go-to seamless underwear brand for young women. All the way to expanding its sales to the US gaining huge popularity and even worn by the likes of Hollywood stars such as Marilyn Monroe.
Now, the brand has humongous roots in today's fashion world. Sustainable Fashion
Sustainability is booming and Hanro know what they're doing when it comes to premium materials. Therefore, Hanro have recently steered their focus onto becoming more sustainable. They have put more spend into implementing good-for-the-planet fabrics. This involves using cellulosic fibres like Tencel. Tencel is a cellulosic fibre obtained from wood pulp using recyclable solvents. This is a very sustainable option in comparison to materials such as non-BCI cotton and non-recycled polyester. This type of material is known to be breathable, stretchy, and wrinkle resistant. It's a great material to look out for if you are mindful about sustainable fashion.
