FRANKS|Print Swim Shorts: It is time to make a change this summer

Before we talk about print swim shorts we must start at the beginning.

Global warming

You may be wondering how print swim shorts have any relation to this topic. Please bare with me - I promise that its worth the read.

Unfortunately, the increase in environmental damage is continuing to peak as we speak. Luckily, people are becoming more and more aware of the destruction that humans are having on the environment. Undoubtedly, you have all found out one way or another that the global impact on the Earth’s environment has been utterly catastrophic. You may have watched the TV programmes Planet Earth or Blue Planet written and spoken by David Attenborough. Or, you may have read books such as ‘The Sixth Extinction: An Unnatural History’ by Elizabeth Kolbert. Or, you may have heard about it on the news when climate protestors such as activist Greta Thunberg held a global strike march against global warming. These different means of spreading environmental information has entered the ears of pretty much everyone.

Of course, this is including businesses from all over the world. Companies have began to change their manufacturing processes and their distribution methods to help fight global warming.

What changes are being made?

Companies from all over the world are taking global warming extremely seriously. Focusing on the fashion industry alone is a shock to the system. Did you know that the fashion industry is the second largest polluter in the world? Let me throw some more facts in your direction. It is time to fasten your seatbelts. 20% of industrial water pollution comes from textiles treatment and dying. Over 190,000 tons of textile microplastic fibres end up in our oceans every year. A whopping 5.2% of the waste in our landfills are textiles. Now that is a lot if you consider the number of landfills there are. Thankfully, businesses all around the globe are making it their mission to reduce their environmental footprint. Including us of course. Here are some examples of what businesses are doing to help:

  • Reducing electricity use (turning off lights and unused machinery)
  • Using recyclable and reclaimed material
  • Investing in sustainable technologies (wind turbines and solar panels)

But, what can we do about it as consumers?

Every single day we as consumers can make a difference. For example, maybe try to buy better quality clothing to reduce the need to throw it away. Or, choose recycled or natural fibres wherever possible. This can be done by choosing sustainable brands.

Every little change that companies make can have a massive impact on the environment. Here at UNDERU.com we make sure to use as much recyclable material as possible so that we completely reduce our waste and recycle where possible. Since we distribute luxury branded products to our consumers, we think very carefully about whether each brand is doing their bit to turn green.

Recycled print swim shorts?

Let's take FRANKS as an example. This is a wonderful brand which we supply over here on our website. Franks is a unique swimwear brand that sell - you guessed it - swimming trunks and all things 'Australian beach couture'. Their popularity spikes due to the intriguing print swim shorts specially designed for those who love the sun. They stock a huge array of funky print swim shorts. Some of which are made purely from 100% recycled fibre which is spun from plastic rubbish. You got that right. Swimming shorts made out of water bottles. Who would’ve thought you could turn rubbish into something so great? Take a look at my two favourites below:
